Today's subject matter is pretty different than my usual preference. I felt like I needed to break away from those photo references for a while and push my subject matter way out of my comfort zone. I don't paint many still lifes, so I thought that would be a good choice. A little girl's stuffed animals seemed an unlikely subject for me, so it was perfect. I wanted to still use some of the rougher scratchy strokes that I have been working with, but painting from life. I set up in our dining room today to paint these.
The first piece is a stuffed animal that Erin sleeps with. It is quite special to her.

Great stuff... your 'softer' side showing? :)
I am smiling at seeing your softer side too. Always fun to see a change up. Love the top brown horse especially- wonderful job on these!
Ahhhha... So cute!!!!
it is interesting to see your brushwork on painting these subjects ... it works beautifully!
They all have a 'landscape' feel to them; don't know why, maybe it's the textural brushstrokes.
Thanks everybody. Yes, must be my softer side.
I think these are great. Really original subject matter too. nice. Love to see more of this set.
Your paintings are just beautiful. Technically sound with a sense of playfulness! Perfect.
Happy Painting,
Nora
