Before 2009 gets chased out the door I thought that I would sneak in one last post for the year.
These are three recent paintings of Atotonilco, Mexico. It's one of the places in Mexico that has been very inspiring to me over the past 20 years.
The first painting is a side view of the Sanctuary in Atotonilco. I've painted a few on this quiet street before. It always has a calming effect on me so I titled this one "Serenity".
"Serenity", 8x6" oil, Frank Gardner © 2009
$550. Framed. Available at Galeria Gardner
This next one is part of the "Creative Convergence" show starting next month on Cape Cod.
The menacing sky really made the church stand out.
"El Santuario de Atotonilco", 14x18" oil, Frank Gardner © 2009
$1,430. Framed. Available at Addison Art Gallery
The bottom piece is from a few months ago, but I never posted an image of it. It shows a group of women pausing in front of the church before they go inside.

I was just a moment ago thinking about what a generative year 2009 was for you. Inspiring. Thanks for being so life-filled and generous to so many. It was a good day in my life, the day my eyes first fell upon your blog. And, the first painting I saw was one of Atotonilco.
Good luck with your Cape Cod show next month, Frank. And thanks for providing continual inspiration, advice and excellence in painting. Best wishes for a happy new year.
I always love looking at your work Frank...

I'm hoping I'll see you in March... Will confirm when I know for sure.
Your paintings are beautiful, the way you depict color and atmosphere is noteworthy. I am glad to have come across your blog, very inspiring! Happy New Year!
Always a boost to the art juices to look at you latest work. 2009 was, in many ways, trying. Have a great 2010... whatever that would look like.
beautiful. oh that church and that tree. *sigh* both great compositions. and the group of women, great colors... just lovely. best for a great cape cod show and happy painting in 2010 my friend. :]

Wonderful group of paintings Frank!
I hope your Cape Cod show is a smashing success. Happy New Year to you and yours!
Happy New Year Frank!
Three great paintings...I like them all... but for "Me" the "Ladies Waiting at the Front of the Church" piece is the gem!
The subtle tilts of the head and the arrangement of figures mounting the steps infer a very strong diagonal compositional reference to the... waiting!Great colour and pageantry as well.
Good painting in 2010... and good luck with the Cape Show!
