New Paintings and painting with friends.

It's been quite a while since I last posted something. Sorry about that.
Last month I had 14 friends down visiting and painting in San Miguel. We had a blast, and I can't even begin to write about how much fun I had with them here. I took them all horseback riding one day and I think they all really enjoyed themselves. Here is a lineup of 13 of us about to race across a dry lake bed.

left to right: Felix (his ranch), Ignat Ignatov, Ernesto Nemesio, Peter Kalill, Scott Burdick, Frank Gardner, Logan Hagege, Jerome Greene, Jeremy Lipking, Kevin McNamara, Paul Schulenburg, Jeff Bonasia, Marc Hanson, Colin Page, and a few more guys from the ranch.
Not in this photo are Dan Corey and Alexey Steele.

Below are three of the pieces that I painted around town with my buddies. They will be part of the group shows that we are doing in Jan and Feb, 2010.
I'll post a few more paintings and some info about our upcoming shows. There will also be an article in American Art Collector. I'll let you know when that comes out.

Quite a "Posse of paintslingers" you headed up there!... The kind you need at a "quick draw" shootout! HAHA!!

Fraaaank I've missed you! So glad you are back.

But I see it was for a justified reason. Painting with a whole bunch of buddies and getting to play cowboys too, sounds like too much fun!

Hope you and you family are well. Hugs! :o)

Frank--I was getting worried about you, so welcome back. Sounds like you had a blast with the "Who's who" buddies, and I look forward to seeing their various takes on SMA. Love the paintings--keep 'em coming!

Thanks for the B-Day wishes Marian.

Thanks Dan. It was such a fun trip, I had some serious withdrawals after you all went home.

Hi Bruce. It WAS quite a posse. Lots of fun all around.

Oh Hi Alicia! Almost two months since the last post is not justified. Just feeling lazy about it I guess. Time to get back at it though.
We are great, thanks. Good to hear from you!

Hi Jack, how have you been? When is your next trip to SMA? It was a feast for the eyes to see how each guy translated their feel for San Miguel into paint. The shows are on the Cape again starting in Jan. but the receptions are the 12th and 13th of Feb.

Great painting. Love how the color is the value that moves my eyes around. What a great/fun group of painters. Look forward to the mag. article.

Frank--tentively plan to be in SMA next November. We're renting a casa in San Raphael near where we rented before. I plan to paint a lot and will bring my stuff with me this time. (My family gave me a 11 X 14 Art Essentials box last Christmas which I have used steadily). Otherwise all is well. I was absent from blogging for a long time because of my arm, but I'm back posting regularly. Check it out--I miss your comments!

"Rosario"...wonderful! Your greens are amazing, as always..varied, warm and cool, dull and intense. I see you are using a Beauforte easel for your larger work. Are you happy with it? Best wishes on your upcoming show..loved the photo of all the guys on horseback..who one the race?
