Tapetes are woven grass mats that they sell here. This guy is ALWAYS sitting on this corner waiting to sell one of his Tapetes.
This one was finished up in the June, but I did not get around to posting it.

Lovely Frank.
I really love this subject. Him and the bicycle which seems to be waiting patiently as well, for someone to buy the tapete and take of the weight of it's back. And the 2 colors of the back wall add so much to the painting too.
Hope you are having fun, painting and painting with your buddies. I envy you... I want to be painting with my buddies too :o)
I'm going to stop saying "this is my new favorite" Everything you do is so inspiring. Amazing composition here with the bands of colour.
Beautiful planning, beautiful execution. I love this one.
Love the contrast of the light mat to the red background. Another wonderful painting!
Thanks,
Rhonda
oh wow!
blocks, circles, triangles, lines, planes, angles, color, color, color, all the stationary things are bold and jumping out of the painting, but the things that move are motionless.......
wild and crisp, explosive and restful - it's just way cool, those combined oppositions!!!
would love to see it next to the Violin!
thank you for all these posts!!! so generous and kind of you to plan this in advance. i'm pretty wowed by it - what an amazing gift!!!
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!

Love the way you've caught this moment in time.
To get red and orange that warm and still not overpower the subjects is another testament to your use of color.
I love the mood, the shadows and the solitary moment of the vendor and his wares.
I have to echo Eric- they're all tied for favorite, and to Solveg too, and thank you for posting in advance of your trip so we're not all left here quaking in the void!
I really enjoy how the strong horizontal lines bring us into the picture, but the diagonal lines pull us right to the man, then the curb takes us to the bike and the grass mat! The bold use of color with the brightness of the sun in the foreground is so effective. So much to appreciate here in what looks like a simple painting... masterful once again, Frank.
The mat looks very large. I hope he made a sale.

Hi Alicia. Thanks. Yes, painting with my buddies was great and now I have some new friends too.
Hi Eric. Thanks. They can all be favorites.
Thanks Sheila.
Thanks Rhonda.
Thanks Solveg. I'm glad that everyone enjoyed the pre programed posts and came by to comment.
Thanks Julie.
Thanks Bonnie.
Hi Joanne, thanks.
Hi Paz. I know, I dont know how he rides those on his bike on the cobble stones.
there is so much about this painting i like, the colors, the way the strong horizontals lead you to the seated man, the composition. either you are really great at composing your paintings, or everything where you live naturally falls into harmonious compositions (i believe it's latter)... LOL
Must be the latter Christine :-(
ok, i think i totally worded that wrong... i was indicating this one 'you are really great at composing your paintings"....oh crap, now i probably have a group of christine haters forming now!!!
Hah ha, good one Christine. I doubt that the club has started yet. Thanks.
