Painting Trip

I am going on a painting trip to Maine with a group of friends.
Starting Thursday, I'll be away from the blog for about two weeks.
This is a painting that I did on my last trip to Port Clyde in Oct. 2006 with Peter, Paul, and Jerome.

"Fishing Pier, Port Clyde", 11" x 14" oil on linen, Frank Gardner © 2006
Private Collection

There are a few blog posts cued up to appear while I am gone, as I will be without an internet connection for most of the trip.
I'll be sure to respond to any comments when I can.

This ought to be fun. It is a great group of painters.

Check out these links to some of their work.
Peter Kalill
Paul Schulenburg
Jerome Greene
Colin Page
Jeremy Lipking
Ernesto Nemesio
Glenn Dean
Logan Hagege
Casey Baugh

Have a great trip Frank!! Count me jealous - Maine is one of my favorite places, and what a group of artists to enhance it. A few of those guys are on my list of favorites! Can't wait to see the results.

Hey Frank,

I've got the brushes warmed up and ready to go. Can't wait to get painting. I'm trying to put together a list of places we can go paint around here so we have some good options.

I'm also looking forward to some of your mexican cooking!!!

Sounds awesome, Frank. And, well, Maine... you know how I feel about Maine! :-)

By gosh Frank- a veritable G9 summit of some of the greats!

A very exciting trip, no doubt and now I'll check all their sites too.

Without internet for two weeks- yikes, you'll have to substitute your blogging jones with a lot of painting.

I can only imagine what a blast this will be for all of you.

I'll be eagerly waiting for your new posts and visions of another climate.
And your conversations with Colin- :-)!

Thanks Stacey! I hope I get some painting done with so many great shoulders to be looking over.

Hi Colin. Good!
I hope you guys like what I have planned for Monday night, El Grito! Mexican Independence Day!

Frank Gardner said...

Yes, Jennifer, I DO know how you feel about Maine. I'm sure you will recognize some of the spots we will paint.

G9..LOL. Good one Bonnie. It should be G12 or 13
I guess.
Yes, check out their work, They don't all have a "web site" but I linked to galleries when I could.
I know, I wont be able to visit all of your blogs for a while. Then when I get back I spend a week trying to catch up.
I'll let you know how that goes.

What a great bunch! Can't wait to see what magic paintings you come back with. Have fun!

Mexican Independence Day food delights! I hope you will write about your cooking in addition to your painting, when you get back!
I really like this painting, too, by the way. I had a favorite childhood book, Time of Wonder, which I think is by Robert McCloskey........and it takes place in Maine. I always wanted to go. I had a trip planned to go with my family but it was immediately after Sept. 11, and I admit to having been afraid to fly, so I didn't go. Hindsight is easy on that one - dumborama. sigh. But this painting brings up my images of what Maine looks like - the light and color quality, and the trees and water.......
Have a great trip, painting, friends, food, everything - have a fabulous time!!!

This is right on Frank. I can smell the mist.
Can't wait to see your work. This weather is perfection!

Frank Gardner said...

Hi Takeyce, Thanks, hope I get a few good ones.

Well Solveg, I guess I could give it a try. We'll see if they like it first.
I'll have to look for that book sometime. Maine is great. I think there is a lot to paint there.
We bailed out of a trip to Europe after that too and wish we hadn't. Still have not been:-(
Thanks!

Just a few of these guys have blogs( Colin, Eric, Jeremy and me) Maybe we could do a group post or something. I assume they will at least mention the trip. I'll try and get some shots of everyone and some of their work.
I can see you painting the trees here. The mesquites and Huizaches have a lot of character.

Thanks Barb.

Thanks Mary, I'm sure we will paint from this dock again. I'd like to re visit a few spots and see how I do two years later.
Hope it is not as freakin' cold as it was last time.

Hi Theresa. There are a lot of different styles between all of us. It will be real fun to line em all up at night and check them out.
Thanks.

You will have SUCH a great time!! Symbiosis in art is such a real and wonderful thing. I can't wait until we all get to see what you create. How did you hook up with that group of painters?
Enjoy every minute!

Frank-
Thanks to the links to the other artists. I really enjoyed looking at their work and I am so jealous of your time together. What a great experience.
Good luck,
Steve

Thanks Marian. I've been friends with Peter, Paul and Jerome for years. They show in a gallery with one of the other painters, and he knows most of the other guys. Colin knows those Cape guys and I know him through blogging.

Thanks Steve
