Review of my work by Elijah - Art and Critique

The weather here in upstate New York has been great the last two days, and I have been enjoying the visit with my family.
Coming from a semi desert life in Mexico, spring in New York and New England is a treat.
I head over to the Cape tomorrow for a week.

Elijah Shifrin has written a review of my work on his art and critique web site. Please click here. to read the first review.

wonderful review! congrats to you! if i read correctly there will be a continuation? is it strange to read someone else's interpretation of your work? sounds like you are enjoying your trip...there's nothing like going home to refresh you! enjoy! can't wait to see your paintings.

I echo Christines' sentiment above- when someone else interprets your work, do you see what they see? Was your intent what they THINK your intent was?
It is a rich and well covered review of your work which is wonderful and deserving of praise.

Being ambivalent about reviews and judges in general, I'm reminded of the cartoon in the New Yorker showing the artist and patron in a gallery staring at the painting on the wall of virtually not much. The artists' comment is " How can YOU know what I meant, when even I didn't know what I meant "!
There's always that possibility too.
Enjoy the change of locale and be inspired by it all.

It's a good review, certainly made me think differently about your work. IT's interesting to hear a person's interpretation sometimes. They can uncover something you've done unconsciously, or be completely wrong, but it's interesting all the same.

Frank--This is an interesting take on your work. I, too have responded to your use of scale but don't have the audacity to try to explain it from either my point of view or yours. What's important is that it can be responded to in some way. This reviewer sees it in a kind of positive way--"community," etc. If you can't readily explain it, I suggest you don't try. Keep it spontaneous. He's right about your confidence. I occasionally write reviews of concerts but only rarely am inspired to reveal innermost feelings the way Elijah did. You should take it as a huge compliment. Hope the rest of your trip here goes well.

Congrats on the review! It was nice to see your work out of the context of your site - by being unexpected it made me look with fresh eyes.

yes nice little review Frank.
what i like about your work is how you capture that dusty atmosphere
that dust goes everywhere and it colors your paintings nicely
love the guy with the green twigs,
such a nice contrast

Hello!
This is my first time to visit your page, and piqued my interest fully! Thrilling bridge between colors, quite inspiring.
I'd like to come back again.

Congrats on the review, Frank.

I'm looking forwards to seeing anything that comes up from your Norteamérica visit...

You were one of a few of our online community I thought about on my own recent trip...

I appreciate the support.

I have posted a few of my paintings from the trip and links to two more reviews of my work by Elijah.

Time to paint some more.
